My Journey
1983 – Born in Kuala Pilah. A small town in Negeri Sembilan.
1986 – Move to Kuala Lumpur because people say Kuala Lumpur can find gold.
1990-1995 – Primary education at SRJKC Tsun Jin. I have a good time there and graduate with a good result.
1996-2000 – Secondary education at SMK Pandan Indah. Got offer to VI or Chong Hwa but I’m not going because this school is near my house. I’m with stupid. Begin to dislike school, have a first taste of Real World by working part time in Bukit Bintang; meet friends in tuition centre, night life outing, addicted to gaming, hand phone, IT gadget and understand why is outside world so attractive from school. Fall addict in IRC, in love with web design, and have created some IRC scripts, websites, and chance to use unix hosting for IRC eggdrop, psybnc and shell script. Learn some hacking skills from IRC.
2001-2005 – Join APIIT because want to know more about computing. Don’t find it interesting in the first two year because C and Java is boring. Done some webs design freelance job and focus on web development. Self study PHP, Javascript and web related skills. Completed degree and oh yeah I got a second upper. An acceptable result for a milestone.
08/2005-06/2006 – Join UOB as System Analyst. Chance to work on Java but too bad, there only left me and one girl in the team, seniors are leaving. I need to self study those systems from technical spec, search and read documents in intranet but no time for this. Job tasks and change request and keep assigning to me. Oh yeah, have a fun time to code in Java, design in Brio Report, query in Oracle, trouble shoot users’ bugs found, testing in Sun environment, write BAT script to send file, shell script for cron job, RMI for sending batch file, deploy new project, support old system, perform disaster recovery testing and many more. Oh, I spend a lot time in meeting with user and vendor. And I hate the mid night call.
08/2005-09/2006 – While working in UOB, I have formed Aogos Network Sdn Bhd with partner. I have developed Craiglist liked website aim to win MMU Entrepreneur Funding. Too bad we got the second place for the 30K. Start working full time in June 2006, project direction changed from classifield site to job search site. The final product is Vertical Job Search Engine + Social Network Site (SNS). This project helps company to get MSC status; make fame for my partner, got Businesweek Asia Young Entrepreneur, RED HERRING top 100, and get MDEC 100K grant. But project is not making money so the team dismiss very soon.
10/2006-10/2007 – Meet the boss of Brunswick Industries on an occasion, and I find his new project is interesting then I join as their R&D lead. Spend time understand the recycling industry, design and develop the prototype, meet supplier to integrate their solution, brainstorm, testing and more. This project integrated digital weigh scale, MyKad reader, thermal printer, USB pendrive, and SMS modem. The idea of this project is to encourage people to recycle to gain point which use MyKad as identity, whenever item are send to collection centre, just put in the MyKad, item on weigh scale, system automatically generate receipt and record the transaction and send to server; so customer can check statement and redeem product on the website. Staff also can monitor the activity from backend web portal. Project got support from many people and government but does not last long because it is too ‘high tech’ for people in Ipoh. So the boss decide to use back traditional way for recycling that is ‘cash buy sell’.
11/2007-07/2009 – I begin to dislike R&D project because it is difficult to market. I want to learn more sellable software and products. I join Digital Civilization as Solution Architect. Basically, my job is consulting customer, sell solution, customized project or system integration. We provide ready-made solution such as accounting software, fingerprint time attendance system, MyKad visitor solution, CCTV, POS and more. I am more like a solution provider; when a solution is sell, I need to do installation, user training and technical support. If software project is assigned I need to consult customer, meeting, design, coding, testing and documentation. Complete the entire SDLC alone but mostly in PHP web development and I find it interesting where I can learn a lot other than just coding, got chance to visit China to look for IT Solution, meeting clients, handle project myself, get hardware knowledge and have a taste of Real Business.
08/2009 – Join PUC Founder (MSC) Berhad. A new beginning.
